Do not use refrigerants, OR use only refrigerants (naturally occurring or synthetic) that have an ozone depletion potential (ODP) of zero and a global warming potential (GWP) of less than 10.

Calculate the lifecycle refrigerant GWP for all HVAC&R systems serving the project, and demonstrate that it does not exceed the maximum thresholds in Table 1.

where: LCGWP = lifecycle GWP per ton cooling; GWPr = refrigerant GWP; Lr = annual leak rate (2%); Mr = end-of-life loss (10%); Rc = refrigerant charge per system; Qtotal = total cooling capacity in tons.
