• Routine, proactive maintenance of HVAC systems, including changing air filters regularly. Over time, filters become less effective as they trap particles. Equipment often measures CO and CO2, but other substances can also be monitored, including particulates, total VOCs, or a specific VOC like formaldehyde (HCHO). Example of using continuous air monitoring to improve IAQ: Using data from continuous indoor air monitors, a building operator may notice a spike in VOC levels that appears to correspond with the cleaning schedule.
