8.15 Building Electrification

English(英文原文)中文(中文翻译)
Even energy-efficient buildings can have significant carbon footprints if the energy used comes from fuels burned on the project site. Building electrification, the process of replacing non-electric energy sources with electricity, is one of the most important ways that buildings can decarbonize.
New buildings can be designed to avoid on-site combustion through electrifying space heating/cooling and water heating via heat pumps. Existing buildings can create long-term decarbonization plans focusing first on energy efficiency and then on electrification.
Quality of life: Induction cooking is much safer than gas systems, produces fewer toxic emissions, and creates a safer environment for kitchen staff.
