On all sites, use native or adaptive vegetation for at minimum 50% of the total vegetated area of the site. On a site that is not previously developed, also protect a minimum of 40% of greenfield area. On a site that has been previously developed, also restore a minimum of 30% of the site. The restored areas must use native or adaptive vegetation.

Native plants are those that are indigenous to the project's region. Adaptive or adapted plants are those that can survive in the project's region without supplemental irrigation beyond a temporary watering period to become established. Projects must use native, adaptive, or a combination of native and adaptive vegetation for at minimum 50% of the total vegetated area.
